Kirkland, Québec, November 3rd, 2004 - Valeo Pharma Inc., a fully integrated specialty pharmaceutical company based in Montreal, announced the recent acquisition of two brands: Aristocort (Triamicinolone Acetonide), primarily used for the treatment of certain dermatoses; and Aristospan (Triamcinolone Hexacetonide), an adjunctive therapy for synovitis of osteoarthritis, acute and subacute bursitis, a product that has not been on the market for the past few years due to a shortage.
"We firmly believe that these products have a future. Consumers need them," said Steve Saviuk, President of Valeo Pharma. "Both brands still have positive momentum in Canada, particularly Aristospan, which had not been on the market for years and is available only through the Government Special Access Program."
Valeo Pharma Inc. was founded in August 2003 by seasoned experts from the pharmaceutical industry, and specialized in licensing/acquiring, manufacturing and marketing mature or new, promising OTC and prescription products that were underpromoted in Canada. Since its foundation, the company has demonstrated that the full transfer, including regulatory, manufacturing and distribution responsibilities, can be accomplished seamlessly and expediently while maintaining quality and service.
In less than one year, Valeo Pharma has completed the acquisition and licensing of 11 other brands, mainly in the dermatology category: Acetoxyl®, Capsaicin®, Dan-Gard®, Dantar Plus®, Dehydral®, Epi-Lyt®, Erypack®, Formula 405®, Oxizole®, Tar Distillate® and Versel®. The company plans to add more licensing and acquisition arrangements in other specialty areas of the pharmaceutical industry.
"Our goal is to provide Canadian consumers with the quality products they require," said Saviuk. "We will support them through targeted sales and marketing effort to the physicians, pharmacists and other influence groups." With its latest acquisitions, Aristocort and Aristospan, Valeo Pharma Inc. has all the pieces in place and the expertise to further build their track record of success during the next year.
